ASUS has developed a new media player called the Asus O!Play Mini. The player is capable of producing Full HD video (1920 x 1080 pixels).
The Asus O!Play Mini is support for video files in MP4, MOV, XVID, AVI, ASF, WMV, and MKV. In addition, it can decode audio in Dolby Digital AC3, DTS 2.0+, TrueHD and DTS-HD (support for OGG and FLAC files, not to mention for MP3 and WMA). It is provides HDMI 1.3 port and RCA audio output.
Asus O!Play Mini doesn’t have built-in storage but provides USB 2.0 interface for connect to external storage such as flash drives and portable HDD. In addition, the front panel has a card reader (MMC/SD/MS/xD).
The price of Asus O!Play Mini home media player is not reported but likely under $100. As noted, the Asus O!Play HD2 media player that support USB 3.0 is selling at $129.99.
