The Linksys E4200 is the most advanced member of the company’s Linksys E-series and claims to be ideal for home entertainment, with the power for HD video streaming and the ability to connect all network devices in the home including laptops, smartphones, iPads, internet-enabled TVs, Blu-ray players and game consoles.
It includes four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, as well as six antennae for extended range. It has dual band (2.4 and 5.0GHz) operation and advanced firewall security.
It also comes with a USB port that allows you to connect USB devices such as external hard drives directly to the router so that HD movies and music can be shared wirelessly.
The new design, developed by the Cisco Consumer design team in Denmark and California, allows it blend easily into the living room next to your home entertainment system.
Jens Hofmeister, Director Product Management at Cisco Consumer, said: “People want to be connected at all times via their iPads, internet enable TV, Blu-ray players, game consoles and smartphones to stream, store and share vast amounts of media. In response to this, Cisco has drawn on its innovation heritage to equip consumers with the right tools to enjoy a better wireless entertainment experience.”
The Cisco Linksys E4200 will be available in April for £169.
