Lexus LF-Gh summons the swagger for New York show

To rethink a Lexus sedan is no simple task. The brand has sold millions of copies by not being avant-garde. It is synonymous with low-key luxury, taste and quality. Clearly, the Lexus brass takes the company's image seriously, and any departure from the norm is contemplated with gravity.

Now comes the LF-Gh hybrid concept set to grab the spotlight at the New York auto show. This is a design study, and it's sure to draw opinions. It's bolder and buffer and dramatically different up front from any Lexus on the road today. If a version of this is built-and not watered down en route from sketchpad to street view-Lexus will go a long way toward shedding its staid image.
